On January 15, teachers and students from Guilin Pingshan Primary School, together with employees from Guilin Yuandian Xinsu Hotel and Guilin Raytek Mining Machinery Co., Ltd., went to Zhongnan Village, Yangdi Township, and carried out the theme practice activity of “Expressing Gratitude for Poverty Alleviation and Striving Forward from a New Starting Point” by donating materials and purchasing agricultural products from households that had been lifted out of poverty. At the event site, Pingshan Primary School donated books, toys, masks, and other supplies to Zhongnan Primary School. The teaching staff of both sides held discussions and exchanges, and together listened to the first secretary of Zhongnan Village Committee sharing his experience and achievements in poverty alleviation. The heads of the caring enterprises and schools participating in the event also visited the 100-mu Wogan citrus base of Zhongnan Village Committee and personally experienced the tremendous changes in Zhongnan Village after poverty alleviation. In the past, the roads we walked on were all dirt roads. On rainy days, water would splash everywhere, and when we went home, we were often splashed with mud by passing vehicles. Now life has improved, and the roads we walk on have all become asphalt roads. On rainy days, water no longer splashes, vehicles can pass more easily, and our feet no longer get worn and damaged. In the past, when we washed clothes, we used only cold water, and our hands would often crack and hurt badly. Now we use hot water, our hands feel warm, and they no longer crack. I feel that life is getting better and better, and happier and happier. At the Zhongnan Village Committee, employees from Guilin Yuandian Xinsu Hotel and Guilin Raytek Mining Machinery Co., Ltd. purchased pomelos, honey, and other products from households that had been lifted out of poverty through the method of “replacing donations with purchases.” The total consumption amount was close to RMB 10,000, helping these households increase their income and become better off. Through Secretary Wen, the first secretary of Zhongnan Village Committee, we learned about the situation in Zhongnan Village, and we came here at the first opportunity to do our best to undertake some social responsibility, hoping to provide more help to the villagers. In addition, we hope that society will become more and more harmonious.
